now its 'praxis'- putting theory into action

and so instead of changing names all the time, we'll just bring it back 'round to 'ascension' as the event, and praxis be the incarnation this year.

notes from meeting 3/8/05

here's a brief run down of what we covered:

*theme: "praxis". -the Practical application or exercise of a branch of learning. basically, putting into action what you have come to learn

*stating out intention: our intention is to create a space for.....? personal exploration, growth, community connection, embodiment of.....? we're still feling this one out. feel free to add your thoughts.

*our goals:
- to foster artisitc collaboration
- to encourage original art
- to promote the vast artisitc talent that lies within the underground sf scene
- to insert more overtly political messages concerning the state of our world/society
- what else...?

*we began working on a management model that will be posted soon

* management posts so far:
- producers: Andres and Chris Sia
- fashion: desiree
- performance: chris
- sound: andres
- sound: jack

*many key positions are needed
- room coordinators
- pr person
- financial whizes
- volunteer coordinator
- fund raising/sponsorships
- performers
- lots of volunteer help!
- what else...?

*we're still working on the date

*the place is 1015 folsom, where we are completely in with the management. in the absence of red bull funding, 1015 is helping out loads but we'll still need to find sponsorship of some sort.

hey kidz-

this is the management's disclaimer that needs to be said right up front. being part of the planning crew of ascension is not a gaurantee that you will be given a performance slot at the event. the planning crew is doing this for the love of the event, not for personal promotion. our commitment is to act for the benefit of the event over our personal goals. in most situations these goals are not mutually exlusive and most likely everyone will find a place in the event that allows them to do what they love most!

How we should use this forum

Hey kids-

glad you are part of the effort!

here's a few thoughts as to how this tribe forum should be used.

- we can maintain threads for all to see, which will be quite valuable as we go on. therefore, topics that would be beneficial letting the group in on should happen here when possible.
- we'll post all meeting notes and so forth here
- we can direct folks interested in participating here to learn what is needed
- responsibiltiies and needs can be posted

and lots more, so lets take advantage of this awesome forum!

invite anyone you know who would be a valuable asset for this event.
